Brooklyn Avenue School Honors Beloved Community Member with Memorial Pizza Lunch

School PTA and Pop Patrol Gathers in Memory of Jimmy Mitchell

Brooklyn Avenue School in the Valley Stream 24 School District recently came together to honor the memory of a cherished community member whose generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on generations of students and families.

Jimmy Mitchell, a local grandfather, business owner, and dedicated community pillar, was fondly remembered during a special memorial pizza lunch held at the school. For years, Mr. Mitchell volunteered his time and resources to host “Pizza Lunch Fridays,” a tradition that brought joy to students and fostered a strong sense of community within the school.

Mr. Mitchell passed away last year, but his legacy continues to resonate throughout Brooklyn Avenue School. In tribute, the school’s PTA partnered with a group of dedicated fathers known as the Pop Patrol to organize a memorial pizza lunch in his honor. The event not only celebrated Mr. Mitchell’s life but also revived a beloved tradition that meant so much to students.
