Clerk Fights Off Armed Robbers With Pizza Cutter

The men tried to rob a 7-Eleven, but weren't expecting the clerk to fight back.

A clerk at 7-Eleven fought off two men who tried to rob his store at gunpoint early Monday morning.

According to police, two men entered the 7-Eleven located at 310 Hempstead Ave. in West Hempstead at 2:04 a.m. and threatened the 67-year-old clerk with a black handgun. The clerk, however, grabbed a kitchen knife and a pizza cutter to fight off one of the men. Both robbers then fled the store, got into a black sedan parked near 238 Lindberg St., and fled southbound. Nothing was taken and no one was hurt.

The first robber was a black man, 20 to 30 years old, wearing a dark-colored face mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and black sneakers. The second robber was also a black man 20 to 30 years old, wearing very similar clothes.
