Curran Honors 'Future Leaders' of New York
Two local high schoolers receive "Future Leader of New York State" award.
Assemblyman Brian Curran presented his "Future Leader of New York State" award to Lynbrook residents, Maggie Moran of Lynbrook High School and Alexa Ford of Our Lady of Peace School, at their schools' recent awards ceremonies.
According to Curran, Moran and Ford were selected for their demonstrated commitment to their communities and their leadership abilities.
"Young people like these recipients are what our state needs," Curran said. "With this award, I want to encourage a higher level of thinking that wakes up the imagination of our young adults, so that when they continue their education and eventually get out into the world, they will hold a special regard for public service, and consider how they can contribute their own unique talents and energies toward making the world a better place. Maggie and Alexa hold that promise for their own futures."

Curran is continuing the Future Leader of New York State Award tradition that was initiated by his predecessor, Assemblyman Bob Barra. A graduating senior from each high school in his district, as well as graduating eighth graders from the private and parochial schools, will be honored during this graduation season.
