Picture 1: Assemblyman Brian Curran presents a New York State Assembly Citation to Future Leader of New York State recipient Ashley Miller from Our Lady of Lourdes School in Malverne.
Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st AD) recently presented Ashley Miller from Our Lady of Lourdes School in Malverne with his highly competitive “Future Leader of New York State” award. Ashley was selected for her incredible demonstration of individual commitment to her community, as well as her willingness to be a young leader. The next phase of Ashley’s contributions will take place at Sacred Heart Academy where she will attend school in the fall.
“The leadership of young people like Ashley is what our state needs,” said Curran. “By recognizing these young people, I hope we can inspire others to contribute to the quality of their communities in the way that Ashley has. If we can create that spark, it will spread and inspire many others to collectively contribute to a better world for all.”

Curran has continued the Future Leader of New York State Award tradition that was initiated by his predecessor, Assemblyman Bob Barra. Each year, a graduating senior from each high school and a graduating 8th grader from the private and parochial schools in the Assembly District are honored with this prestigious award of recognition.
