Third-grade students at Davison Avenue Intermediate School in the Malverne School District honored local veterans with a special choral presentation and ceremony on Nov. 7.
Under the direction of music teacher Deanna Vitola, students sang a medley of patriotic favorites, including “Peace Be With You” and “Yankee Doodle Song.”
The annual tradition was begun by former principal Phyllis Wright in collaboration with local veteran Frank Zabatta. Peter F. Zullo, past commander of American Legion Post 44, also spoke on behalf of the veterans as part of the celebration. Local politicians and district administrators were also present to commemorate the day.
