WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — A crash on Thursday evening in West Hempstead killed a 66-year-old man, police said.

The victim was driving a 2021 Chevy SUV when he collided with a 2015 Toyota Camry driven by a 41-year-old woman, detectives said.

It happened just before 7 p.m. when the accident took place on Hempstead Avenue at Front Street.

The crash caused the SUV to hit a utility pole, police said.

The woman refused medical treatment at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
