Temple Em Echad Gospel Shabbat

The Voices of Victory, the gospel choir from St. John's University, under the direction of Nigel W. Gretton, will be performing modern arrangements representing "the cutting edge " of contemproary gospel music. The volunteer choir of Temple Am Echad will be performing throughout, offering liturgical pieces which are a customary part of the Friday evening service, along with well-known traditional spiritual/gospel tunes.

The Voices of Victory will have accompanying musicians who will be playing, together with Maestro David Close on keyboard, and Cantor Jerry Korobow on strings. Many of the melodies will invite congregational participation during what promises to be a fun-filled and inspirational Shabbat experience to which we invite the entire community. This will be an opportunity to enjoy our different traditions, appreciate our similarities, and see that we are all praising God. The arts enhance the religious experience. Come be a part of the temple's celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and the Reform Jewish commitment to social justice and peace.
