Fatal Hit And Run; Victim ID'd, Driver Charged: Police

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY — A woman was struck and killed in a hit and run early Wednesday, police said.

In response to a 911 call, officers found the 37-year-old victim unresponsive on Franklin Avenue at approximately 1:20 a.m., detectives said.

The victim was identified on Thursday as Jessica Carbajal, of Franklin Square, police said.

Carbajal was hit was a 2005 Infiniti, heading southbound on Franklin Avenue. The driver fled, police said.

She was pronounced dead several hours later at an area hospital.

Police located and arrested Marcial Pimental, 20, of Franklin Square. He was driving with a suspended license, the Homicide Squad said.

Pimental was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident: Death and Third-Degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.

He was expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
