Fire Displaces 30 In Weekend Lakeview Fire

The building on Woodfield Road will need to be demolished, the fire marshal said.

LAKEVIEW, NY — A fire early Sunday impacted many businesses and apartments on Woodfield Road and Eagle Avenue.

As many as 30 people, including 13 children, were displaced by the fire and the American Red Cross is assisting them, Newsday reported.

Multiple departments helped battle the blaze, which went to seven alarms, including Rockville Centre, Ladder 765 of West Hempstead and the Lakeview Fire Department.

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention, according to Newsday.

The building was badly damaged and will have to be destroyed, the Nassau County Fire Marshal said.
