Free School Supplies Available for Area Children

Assemblyman Brian Curran will team up with the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream on Monday, Aug. 22 to host a back to school giveaway. All are welcome at the event and encouraged to come and receive a back to school backpack and school supplies in preparation for the coming school year.

“It is important to give to the children of the community. They are the future of our state, and setting them up for success benefits not only the children but the community as a whole,” said Curran. “Making sure they are properly equipped and prepared for the coming school year is crucial. All children deserve a fair shot at a proper education and being properly equipped can only help them in that endeavor.”

Those interested in obtaining a free backpack full of school supplies should come to Curran's office, located at 100 Merrick Road in Lynbrook, on Monday at noon. There are 150 backpacks available, and they will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
