Malverne pride was on full display at the annual homecoming festivities on Saturday, beginning with a vibrant parade. As royal blue and orange filled the sunny streets, supporters cheered on the homecoming court and the high school classes’ college-themed floats.
Back at the athletic field, the community’s children enjoyed carnival games and pony rides. Dr. Vincent Romano, the high school’s principal, presented Nassau County Legislator Siela A. Bynoe with a plaque before she proudly cut the ribbon on Malverne’s new pavilion, assisted by the team’s mascot.
Once the varsity football game began, there was no stopping the mighty Mules, who vanquished the Island Trees Bulldogs, 39-0. Malverne was led by quarterback Dante Lacroix, who started the scoring with an audacious 94-yard fourth-down touchdown run. The Pride of Malverne Marching Band put on a stirring halftime performance to add to the day’s triumphant tone.
