Hempstead Deputy Mayor Attends "Dump Trump" Rally
Village of Hempstead Deputy Mayor Luis Figueroa Attends Macy's Rally

Village of Hempstead, N.Y. (July14, 2015) – Village of Hempstead Deputy Mayor Luis Figueroa attended the July 1st rally outside the Macy’s department store in Herald Square, New York City, to support Macy’s’ decision to discontinue the retail giant’s business relationship with Donald Trump. Deputy Mayor Luis Figueroa attended the rally to show support for Hispanic Americans and express his distress over Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump’s campaign speech remarks.
“Donald Trump’s comments regarding the Latino population were appalling, offensive and extremely racist,” said Village of Hempstead Deputy Mayor Luis Figueroa. “There is no place for that kind of hatred in America, let alone in the White House.”
Deputy Mayor Luis Figueroa’s support of the Latino community is also evident in his work in the Village of Hempstead. During his time in office the Village of Hempstead has launched multiple programs to support minority children, communities and businesses. Recent examples include the Mayor’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative to help students stay on track academically, a summer fitness camp to fight childhood obesity, events hosted with the Hispanic Counseling Center to promote mental and physical health and a partnership with the Economic Opportunities Commission to support career development and growth.
