Hendrick: Town Very Close to Deal on New Movie Theater
The new Regal theater would house 14 screens and be a "premiere theater," the mayor announced Tuesday.

The town of Lynbrook is "very close" to striking a deal with Regal Theaters to rebuild the current , Mayor William Hendrick said during Tuesday's Chamber of Commerce meeting.
"Regal is excited to move forward," Hendrick said. "We've had multiple meetings with them...Lynbrook is open for business."
Hendrick said the new theater would feature 14 screens, offer ample parking around the village and safer drop-off areas for kids, "so they don't have to be dropped off on Merrick Road."

Parking would be made available around town and said the town would implement "21st century technology," allowing residents to find empty parking spots with their cell phones.
The approval for the new theater would occur in January, with building to commence 8-10 months after, Hendrick said.

Complaints against the theater are Among those complaints are the theaters unsanitary conditions, lack of parking, poor film and audio quality and poor customer service.

Although Hendrick's announcement may bring some initial excitement to the community, some residents say they are skeptical.
"We thought this would happen years ago," said one resident on the Lynbrook Patch Facebook page. "Keep your fingers crossed."
