L.I. Burglary Spree Ends After Month; Items Stolen Worth $150K: Police

Two Queens men were arrested and charged with 12 counts of second-degree burglary, police say.

LYNBROOK, NY — Two men were taken into custody for a burglary spree that lasted a month, police said.

Joshua Mellado-Gonzalez, 32, and Mauricio Fuentes-Jimenez, 31, of the same Queens Village address, were charged in connection to a dozen burglaries, detectives said on Thursday.

An investigation by Nassau and Lynbrook police determined that the items stolen were valued at approximately $150,000.

Five homes in Lynbrook were burglarized:

  • Nov. 29: 79 Madison St.
  • Dec. 8: 80 Ocean Ave.
  • Dec. 13: 30 Ocean Ave.
  • Dec. 16: 29 Vassar Pl.
  • Dec. 27: 404 Whitehall St.

Other homes were part of the spree, according to authorities:

  • Dec. 1: 19 Belmont Ave., Elmont
  • Dec. 1: 292 Walton St., West Hempstead
  • Dec. 9: 203 Pkwy., Valley Stream
  • Dec. 27: 355 North Forest Ave., Rockville Centre
  • Dec. 28: 69 West Clinton Ave., Roosevelt

Mellado-Gonzalez and Fuentes-Jimenez are both charged with twelve counts of second-degree burglary and were expected to be arraigned on Thursday, police said.
