LI Educator Gets Principal Promotion
Joseph Puma, with a long association at West Hempstead Union Free School District, is named a principal at the Secondary School.

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY —Joseph Pumo was appointed principal of the West Hempstead Secondary School.
Pumo was voted unanimously by the Board of Education on March 22.
He had served as interim principal of West Hempstead High School since the start of the school year.

"With his experience working in both of our schools, it is my firm belief that Mr.
Pumo is the perfect administrator to lead the creation of our new West Hempstead
Secondary School," district Superintendent Dan Rehman said in a statement.
Pumo previously was assistant principal for grades 7-9 during the 2020-21 school year at the district's secondary plant. He was assistant principal at West Hempstead Middle School from 2017-2020.

Pumo's new position begins on July 1.
