LI Man Sentenced For Posing As Attorney, Stealing Clients' Money
He took money his clients gave him for legal matters and spent it on travel, entertainment and more.

A Lynbrook man was sentenced to seven months in jail and ordered to pay more than $125,000 in restitution after he pleaded guilty to impersonating an attorney and stealing more than $100,000 from homeowners.
Caeser Roberts, 57, pleaded guilty on March 26 to second-degree grand larceny and violation of certain section of the judiciary law. He now has to pay back $128,824.85 to his victims, and serve his jail sentence.
“This con artist is headed to jail because he falsely claimed to be an attorney to earn his victims’ trust, stole more than $128,000 of their hard-earned money, and squandered it on travel and personal expenses,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.

Between August 2013 and August 2014, Roberts pretended to be an attorney at the fake Law Office of Ceaser Consulting & Advisory Group, Inc. He was retained by people from Brooklyn to represent them in a foreclosure judgement and mortgage modification on properties they owned. The clients paid Roberts more than $175,000 for his services. He spent $20,000 on the foreclosure agreement, gave $30,000 back to the clients and kept the rest for himself.
In April 2017, the clients sent a letter to Roberts asking for their unused money back, but he did not. Instead, he spent the money on travel, entertainment, cars and living expenses.
