Man Who Raped Woman At Gunpoint In Nassau Arrested: Police
Police say he abducted a woman and raped her last December.
An Amityville man was arrested Monday and charged with abducting and raping a woman in West Hempstead in December.
According to detectives, Levar Burton, 24, of Albany Avenue, Amityville, approached a woman on Terminal Road in West Hempstead at 4 a.m. on Dec. 27. Police say he was armed with a gun and forced the woman to drive him to an unknown location, where he sexually assaulted her.
After an investigation, police arrested Burton on Monday. He is charged with second-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
