Lynbrook Chamber to Have Busy Spring, Summer
Several events planned over the next several months.

With warmer weather on the way, many people are thinking about relaxing and taking vacations. But the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce is just as busy as ever, with several community events lined up over the next few months.
The "Lynbrook Centennial Golf Outing" will be held on May 2, and is being organized by Chamber executive vice president Jeff Greenfield. The golf outing helps raise money for the Lynbrook Community Chest, and participants will honor Michael McEnerney, a member of the St. Mary Maris Stella Council #2228 Knights of Columbus.
The day after that will be the second annual "A Taste of Lynbrook," a showcasing of various foods and beverages from different Lynbrook restaurants. Money raised from the event goes toward beautification of the village's 9/11 memorial garden, an upcoming Relay for Life event, and the Chamber's scholarship fund.
Kathy Johannsen, executive director at Atria Lynbrook and a member of the Chamber's Board of Directors, said some 300 people attended last year's "Taste of Lynbrook."
"It was a fabulous night because it was very local — a lot of local restaurants and patrons," she said. "Everybody just had a blast. The food was amazing."
There are awards given for best appetizer, entree, dessert and overall presentation.
The Chamber is actively involved in planning for the village's Patriot's Weekend (May 28-30) and Centennial Parade (May 30).
On June 23, the Chamber will host a pre-prom night party on Atlantic Avenue. And officials are exploring dates to hold both a Craft & Vendor Fair and Sidewalk Sale over the summer.
Another dozen winners in the Chamber Dollars contest will be announced next Tuesday. This program benefits both residents and businesses in the village — residents enter to win a $25 gift certificate, good at any Lynbrook business participating in the Chamber Dollars program; the business, on the other hand, gets a customer and is reimbursed the $25 by the Chamber. There are currently 43 businesses participating.
"That's working along very nicely," said Chamber president Bill Gaylor. "We are very pleased with our Chamber Dollars program."
