Lynbrook High School Robotics Team Wins Tournament Title
Ctrl Alt Win will be moving on to the Long Island tournament.
After months of work to design, build and program their robots, four Lynbrook teams faced off against 23 visiting high school robotics teams at the Long Island FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifier, held at Lynbrook High School on Jan. 8.
The team Ctrl Alt Win finished first in the tournament, qualifying to go on to the Long Island FIRST Tech Challenge Championships in February, while teams LAIMO and Task Main made it to the semifinals. LAIMO, Task Main and Zero to Robo will have another shot to qualify for the championships at a second qualifying round on the weekend of Jan. 15.
After a successful inaugural year, Lynbrook High School was proud to once again host this first of three qualifier tournaments for the Long Island FIRST Tech Challenge. Participants started to design, build and test their robots in September. This was their first opportunity to put their programming prowess to the test and face off in challenging floor games, pitting their robots against other teams’ creations. Teams competed on the field in alliances of two and were also judged on their engineering notebooks, which detailed every step of their design and engineering process.
