Lynbrook Judge Nominated to Run for District Court
Lynbrook Judge William Gaylor III will be up for election this November.
Lynbrook Judge William Gaylor III has been nominated to run for District Court Judge in the upcoming General Election.
Judge Gaylor has been serving as Lynbrook's Associate Village Justice for the last three years. He is also practicing attorney with his office located on Atlantic Avenue in Lynbrook.
Gaylor retired from the United States Army as a lieutenant colonel with a top-secret security clearance after serving more than 23 years on active duty. He enlisted in the Army as a private and advanced to the rank of sergeant before attending Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant and continued serving on active duty until his retirement in 2004 with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

The Lynbrook resident has commanded at all levels from platoon to battalion and has spent eight years overseas serving the United States, including two combat tours (Panama and Kosovo) and serving in NATO. His last assignment was as the Professor of Military Science at Hofstra University and Battalion Commander of the Long Island Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Program from July 2001 – October 2004.
Gaylor is also a former paratrooper and jumpmaster having served in the All American 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. He has made 32 jumps during his career and is a lifetime member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association.

Lieutenant Colonel Gaylor has a Master's Degree in business administration from East Texas State University and a law degree from Hofstra University.
Gaylor is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, the State of North Carolina, the Federal District Courts – Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the United States Supreme Court in Washington D.C.
The judge is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3350, a life member of the Military Officers Association and life member of the Hofstra University Veterans Alumni Association.
Gaylor is also a member of the State and County Bar Associations, as well as the State and County Magistrates Association. He and his wife Deborah live in Lynbrook.
