Lynbrook Remembers Veterans With Field Of Honor
Lynbrook High School's Active Citizen Teens Club created the school's first Field of Honor
The Active Citizen Teens Club of Lynbrook High School invited members of the Lynbrook community to join them on May 24 for a dedication ceremony to mark the first exhibition of their Field of Honor at Lynbrook North Middle School, filling the front lawn with a display of 50 American flags. Members of the North Middle School band and chorus added a festive note to the celebration by performing patriotic songs.
The club accepted donations from Lynbrook families to purchase the flags to honor the sacrifices of our past, present and future armed forces and service members. The traveling exhibit will continue to make its way around the community to commemorate not just Memorial Day, but also Veterans Day, Patriot Day and other appropriate holidays.
“The ACT Club was created with the intention of spreading civic-mindedness and patriotism throughout Lynbrook,” said club representative Brandon Pekale. “This field represents Lynbrook’s gratitude and appreciation toward those who are fighting or have fought for our country.”
