Malverne Appoints New Davison Avenue Principal

Rachel Gross will take over the position starting July 1.

At its April 20 meeting, the Malverne Board of Education appointed current Common Core Chairperson K-6 Rachel Gross to the position of principal of Davison Avenue Intermediate School. Effective July 1, Gross will replace Principal Edward Tallon, who is moving to the position of principal of the Maurice W. Downing Primary School, also in the Malverne Union Free School District.

Gross has been with the district since September 2007, when she was hired as a special education teacher at Howard T. Herber Middle School. The last two years, she has served in her current role as Common Core Chairperson K-6, where she worked with teachers and students to develop curriculum and programs aligned with New York State standards.

With her strong background in elementary education, experience in instructional leadership and proven commitment to the students of Malverne, Gross will continue to improve upon and cultivate new initiatives at Davison Avenue Intermediate School.
