Malverne Honors Valedictorian And Salutatorian For Class Of 2020
The two top students of the class were recognized during an online ceremony the principal held.

MALVERNE, NY — In a recent virtual conference call, Malverne High School Principal Vincent Romano recognized the class of 2020’s valedictorian Hannah Hardeo and salutatorian Halle Akaeze.
Having also served as valedictorian of the eighth grade class moving up from Howard T. Herber Middle School four years ago, Hannah Hardeo is no stranger to being at the top of her class. With a strong desire to achieve, she has taken the most challenging courses, including AP Calculus, AP Capstone Research and AP Chemistry, and has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction for her achievements on such exams.
Hardeo is also a member of the Book Club, Foreign Language Club, Honors Club, National Honor Society, Robotics Club and varsity tennis team, and serves as president of the Girls Club and section leader for the award-winning Pride of Malverne Marching Band. In addition, she volunteers at a senior living center, where she assists with hand therapy exercises.

She will graduate with a weighted GPA of 104.59 and a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and Mastery in Math, as well as an AP Capstone Diploma. Hardeo will be attending Johns Hopkins University as a biology major this fall.
In addition to being an AP Scholar with Distinction, Halle Akaeze’s many accolades include being a Long Island Arts Council poetry finalist and an NAACP Act-So Painting competition silver medal finalist. She earned an honorable mention in the Scholastic Art & Writing Regional Awards.

She participates in numerous extracurricular activities, including the Black Studies/World Cultures Club, Community Service Club, Foreign Language Club, Girls Club, GSA Club and Robotics Club. Akaeze has also served as the team captain for the varsity tennis team, is a member of the Tri-M National Honor Society and volunteers as a peer tutor at the high school’s Homework Center.
She will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors and Mastery in Math and Science and an AP Capstone Diploma.
