Malverne Honors Fallen Veterans With Parade [Photos]
Photos of Memorial Day in the village of Malverne.
Malverne saluted the sacrifices of our nation's veterans Monday with its annual Memorial Day Parade.
The festive parade, which featured several local music groups, including the state championship-winning Pride of Malverne High School marching band, the St. Anthony High School Celtic Friar Pipe Band, and marching bands from and the , started one hour earlier this year.
The parade departed from the and weaved through many of the village's sidestreets before making its way down Malverne's "Main Street," Hempstead Avenue. Outside of Harris Field, it paused for a moment of silence and to lay a wreath near a memorial, and then headed pack to Reese Park for a formal ceremony to honor the soliders who gave their lives for their country.
