Man Chased Woman In Car To Expose Himself: Police

Police say he followed her for blocks while exposing himself.

A West Hempstead man was arrested for public lewdness after police say he chased a woman to expose himself to her from his car.

According to police, on Sept. 23 at 2:20 p.m., Christopher Merenlander, 33, of Walden Place, was driving his grey Subaru RX near Hempstead Avenue and Atlas Avenue in Malverne Park. Police say he exposed himself to a woman who was driving in a car next to him. After seeing Merenlander, the woman started to drive away, but police say Merenlander followed her for several blocks, continually exposing himself to her, until he eventually drove away.

Police investigated and eventually identified Merenlander. He turned himself in to police on Oct. 18.

Merenlander is charged with public lewdness. He was arraigned on Oct. 18 in First District Court in Hempstead.
