Man In Critical Condition After Being Struck By NCPD Ambulance
Police say the man was crossing the street the same time the ambulance was making a turn, and was hit.
A man is in critical condition after being struck by a Nassau County Police Department ambulance in Elmont last night, police said.
According to police, while responding to a call, a Nassau County Police Department ambulance, with its lights and siren activated, started making a right turn from northbound School Road to east Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont at 8:16 p.m. The ambulance struck a 26-year-old man who was trying to cross Hempstead Turnpike near the corner.
The man suffered a head injury and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
