Man Hits 6-Year-Old Girl on Nassau Bus, Tries to Grab Police Taser While Resisting Arrest: Cops
BREAKING: It happened on Christmas Day, police say.
ELMONT, NY – A 62-year-old homeless man struck a 6-year-old girl on a Nassau bus and then tried to grab and officer's taser while resisting arrest on Christmas Day, Nassau Police said.
Michael Oxios is charged with third degree attempted robbery, resisting arrested and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to police, Oxios was a passenger on a Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) bus when he struck the 6-year-old girl, who was riding the bus with her mother, at 3:15 p.m.

Oxios then began to scream profanities before striking the girl again and pulling her hair, police said. The mother of the girl called police, who arrived at 161 Hempstead Turnpike and attempted to place Oxios under arrest.
Oxios resisted arrest and struggled with the officers, at one point unsuccessfully attempting to remove an officer's taser from his holster, police said.

Officers were eventually able to place Oxios under arrest, police said. No injuries were reported.
Oxios will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
