Police say he demanded that the 21-year-old clerk hand over money from the register. When the clerk refused, police say Vazquez pulled out a can of mace and sprayed it at the clerk, and then ran.

An investigation led officers to Vazquez, police said. Officers went to his home to place him under arrest, and say that he violently resisted. Police say he caused numerous injuries to detectives that required treatment at a nearby hospital. Vazquez was eventually placed under arrest.
