UPDATE: Multiple Homes Burn, 3 Injured In Elmont Blaze

The massive fire consumed two homes and injured three people, officials say.

UPDATE, 8:30 A.M.: Nassau Police say that three people were injured in the fire the consumed two homes in Elmont on Wednesday.

The fire started at 146 Oakley Ave. at 5:20 p.m., and spread to the neighboring house. The Elmont and Franklin Square fire departments responded to put out the blaze.

The residents of the home — a 70-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman — and a firefighter were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. All three are in stable condition.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
