Nassau Man Broke Into Home To Molest Girl: Police
Police say the girl tried to get away from him multiple times before succeeding and alerting her parents.

ELMONT, NY — A Nassau man was arrested Tuesday morning after police say he broke into an apartment over the weekend and molested a young girl.
According to police, Alex Rivera, 24, of Elmont, entered the apartment in Elmont at 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 30. There was a young girl inside, and police say he began to inappropriately touch her against her will. Police say the girl fought to get away from Rivera several times before succeeding and running to her parents.
Once the girl's parents were alerted, police say Rivera fled. At 8:40 a.m. on July 2, Rivera turned himself in at the Nassau County Police Department 5th Precinct.

Rivera was charged with second-degree burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree sexual abuse, sexually motivated felony and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. He is scheduled to be arraigned on July 3 in First District Court in Hempstead.
