Police say the officers were called to help a sick man, but he became combative with them.
ELMONT, NY — An Elmont man was arrested Sunday night after police say he spat on officers who came to help him, police said.
According to police, officers responded to a call for a sick man at a home on F Street at 11:43 p.m. When they arrived, they were directed to Elis Fernandez, 23, of Louise Place, who police say became immediately aggressive with the officers.
Police say Fernandez began flailing his arms and spat in the eyes and faces of both officers. The officers got him under control and placed him under arrest, police said, and brought him to a hospital for evaluation.
