Nassau Police Investigating Shots Fired On July 4

Police say someone fired a shot into the air from a moving SUV. No one was injured.

ELMONT, NY — Nassau County police are investigating a shooting in Elmont, and they're asking anyone with information to come forward.

According to police, officers responded to a call for shots fired on Fourth Street at 10:06 p.m. on July 4. The officers determined that a passenger in a black Audi SUV reached out of the window and fired at least one shot straight up into the air.

The car was heading north on Fourth Street and turned east onto Belmont Avenue. Police say no one was injured and no property was damaged.

Police do not have any further description of the car or the people in it.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
