Nassau Woman Embezzled From Doctor's Office: Police

Police say she forged checks so that she could cash them, and altered the computer records to cover her tracks.

Nassau police arrested an East Rockaway woman Monday afternoon after police say she embezzled from the ophthalmologist's office where she worked.

According to detectives from the Fraud and Forgery Unit, Denise Moreno, 37, of Atlantic Avenue, worked for an ophthalmologist on South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville. From July 2016 to November 2017, police say Moreno stole checks from the business. She altered computer records, police say, endorsed the checks so they could be deposited into her bank account and then used the money for personal expenses.

Police did not disclose how much money she allegedly stole from the business.
