Nassau Woman Stabbed Her Boyfriend During Argument: Police

Police say the couple's argument escalated, and ended with her stabbing her boyfriend with a kitchen knife.

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Nassau woman was arrested Thursday after police say she stabbed her boyfriend during an argument.

According to police, Melissa Monfort, 49, of West Hempstead, got into an argument with her boyfriend at his home on Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead just before 2 p.m. Thursday. The argument escalated, police said, and Monfort grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her boyfriend in the stomach.

Police were called to the scene, and Monfort was arrested without incident. Her boyfriend was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his wound. Police say the knife was recovered at the scene.

Monfort is charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
