Family and friends recently gathered at Lynbrook North and South middle schools for the induction of 123 new members into the Lynbrook chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.
These seventh- and eighth-grade initiates were chosen based on their ability to meet the Society's standards with regard to scholarship, leadership, character, service and citizenship. They will join their fellow members in upholding these principles by acting as role models for their peers, both in the classroom and in the community.
As the North Middle School inductees were called up one by one to receive their NJHS membership certificates, faculty co-advisers Michele Bergsohn and Marisol Soto read a paragraph about the achievements, hopes and dreams of every student. Everyone was invited to share refreshments at a reception following the ceremony.
