New York American Water Announces 2016 Environmental Grant Program

Qualified Schools and Community Organizations Encouraged to Apply by April 1, 2016

New York American Water is accepting applications for its Environmental Grant Program which provides up to $10,000 in funding for innovative and sustainable environmental projects that improve, restore or protect watersheds, surface water and/or groundwater. Grants must support projects in the company’s service areas and are available to, but not limited to, any non-profit, corporate, municipal or school/university program. Applications must be postmarked by April 1, 2016.

“Safeguarding our water supply and environment for the future should be our highest priority,” said Brian Bruce, New York American Water President. “We know many groups and individuals are making efforts to protect this most vital resource and we are excited for the opportunity to help support those initiatives.”

Grants are awarded on a competitive basis and are selected by the company’s employees based on various criteria such as project goals, impact, innovation, design, collaboration, sustainability and community engagement, among other requirements. All applicants are expected to include specific, measurable goals for projects in their proposals. At the conclusion of the grant project, the lead organization must provide a written report on the project results/impact.
