New York American Water Investing $230,000 in Lynbrook

Water Main Replacement Project Scheduled to Begin October 26, 2017

New York American Water is investing $230,000 to install new water mains on Davison Avenue, from Hempstead Avenue to Green Street, in Lynbrook. When the approximately three-week-long project is completed, the company will have replaced approximately 1,175 feet of aging 6-inch cast iron pipes with 8-inch ductile iron main, in addition to three fire hydrants and 29 services being replaced or transferred. This investment project will improve water quality and service reliability for residents and increase water flows for commercial use and firefighting.

“One of New York American Water’s main priorities is safeguarding the water supply and distribution system at all times,” said Carmen Tierno, President of New York American Water. “Water main infrastructure projects like this help to increase water flow to homes and hydrants while also improving water quality and system resiliency. New water mains are made of stronger metals that provide for greater longevity, which benefits our customers in the long term.”

The scheduled main replacement project will take place along Davison Avenue from Hempstead Avenue to Green Street in Lynbrook, and is expected to begin on October 26, 2017, weather permitting.
