Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Hempstead Turnpike In Nassau
Police are still investigating the crash, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man was killed in West Hempstead Sunday night after police say he was hit by a car while trying to cross the Hempstead Turnpike.
According to police, a 46-year-old man was crossing the turnpike at Westminster Road at 8:33 p.m. Sunday when he was hit by a 2001 Chevy Suburban being driven by a 35-year-old man.
The pedestrian suffered traumatic injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor. The driver remained at the scene.
