Update: Police Charge Man with Assaulting, Robbing Teen Girl of her Phone
BREAKING: The robber threatened to tase her, but she followed him until he gave her property back.

UPDATE: Detectives have arrested and charged Jovon Robinson, 19, of Laconia Avenue, Bronx, for the crime. He is being charged with attempted robbery, first and second degree robbery, fourth degree grand larceny and two counts of fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.

A 17-year-old girl was assaulted and robbed in Lakeview Friday morning, but managed to convince her robber to return her property.

According to police, a 17-year-old girl was walking across the intersection of Tanglewood Road and Yale Avenue in Lakeview at 10:15 a.m. Friday when she was punched in the face by an unknown man. The man picked up the girl's phone, which had fallen to the ground, and started to walk away.
The girl followed the robber and demanded her phone back. The man then pulled out a black Taser, turned it on and threatened to use it on the girl. Still, she continued to follow the man onto Lakeview Road.

A 27-year-old woman who witnessed the incident offered to help by following the man in her car. She was able to convince the man to return the phone. Then he fled the scene. The girl and the witness called the police, and the girl refused medical treatment.

The robber is described as a light-skinned black man, thin build, approximately 5’9” – 5’11” tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
