Portions Of Malverne Get Upgrades To Water System

Liberty New York Water for the next month will replace infrastructure that is nearly 100 years old.

MALVERNE, NY — Some of the century-old infrastructure in Malverne is getting a makeover. Liberty New York Water is investing $250,000 to replace outdated water mains along a stretch of roadway.

It will be replaced with 900 feet of long-lasting ductile iron pipe. The project includes replacing two hydrants and 25 Liberty service connections, Liberty New York Water announced.

"We are eager to provide this important upgrade to the people we serve," John Kilpatrick, director of engineering for Liberty New York Water, said. "Maintaining and routinely updating our infrastructure allows us to improve water quality and system pressure, while also ensuring our customers continue to have a dependable water supply."
