STOP COMMON CORE, WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER COMMISSION

Press statement.

A Statement from Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st AD)

“We don’t need to change the name, we don’t need to modify it, and we most certainly do not need another commission or task force - whose membership is chosen by the governor – to tell us what we already know about Common Core. With opt-out rates skyrocketing, these are the latest ‘brilliant’ ideas coming from the governor’s office on Common Core. Let’s be clear: the governor and Assembly Democrats, based on the three ideas above, have not had a change of heart about this terrible curriculum. This is pure politics at best. The chairman of this newest task force was responsible for the first task force on Common Core appointed by this governor, and his second task force never even issued a final report, despite being required to do so. This new task force is another example of the governor and Assembly Democrats hiding behind yet another group of political pals in order to save face amid the fallout around Common Core. A piece of advice for our State Education Department, the governor and this so-called ‘new-panel:’ just stop Common Core in New York State.”
