Teen Robbed, Assaulted Delivery Drivers: Nassau Police

Police say the teen and others called in Chinese food orders, then robbed the delivery drivers when they arrived.

Nassau County police arrested a Brooklyn teenager yesterday in connection with the robbery of Chinese food deliverers who had their cars stolen while making deliveries.

According to police, the 16-year-old, who wasn't named, was arrested in connection with the following robberies:

On Aug. 19 in West Hempstead, someone called for Chinese food to be delivered to Laurel Drive. When the 33-year-old man delivering the food arrived, he was pulled from his car by the teen and another man. The two then got into the man's car and fled the scene. The delivery driver suffered cuts to his knees and elbows.

On Aug. 20 in Valley Stream, someone called for Chinese food to be delivered to Arkansas Drive. When the 42-year-old woman arrived with the food, the was assaulted by the teen and two others, police say. They stole her keys, wallet and cash, and then two of the assailants got into the car to flee. While leave, police say the two hit the delivery driver with her car. She suffered multiple cuts and swelling, and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The teen was arrested at his home. He is charged with six counts of second-degree robbery and second-degree assault. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
