Valley Stream 24 Engages Families in Technology Parent Academy
Latest Parent Academy Showcases Several Technological Tools and Advancements Throughout the District
The Valley Stream 24 School District recently welcomed families to a dynamic and informative Parent Academy focused on the district’s expanding use of technology and forward-thinking instructional practices. The evening provided parents and families with a firsthand look at how innovative tools and programs are enhancing teaching and learning across the district’s three schools.
Led by Dr. Christopher Keogh, Mr. Mark Onorato, Ms. Samantha Ponzo-Byrams, Mr. Michael Neri, and Ms. Amanda Plutner, the interactive sessions highlighted the district’s commitment to preparing students for a rapidly evolving world. Families had the opportunity to explore a variety of digital platforms and instructional technologies while learning how these tools support student engagement, creativity, and academic growth.
A featured component of the evening was Abii, an interactive artificial intelligence-powered learning tool that provides personalized academic support to students. The program is currently being piloted in one classroom in each school, allowing educators to thoughtfully study its impact on student engagement and outcomes. Earlier this year, district administrators and members of the technology team participated in professional learning to examine the instructional applications of AI and to ensure its responsible and effective integration into classroom practice.
