Valley Stream 24 Students Shine in Debut Drama Club Production of “The Little Mermaid Jr.”

The Valley Stream 24 School District celebrated the debut performance of its newly established Drama Club

The Valley Stream 24 School District proudly celebrated a milestone achievement with the debut performance of its newly established Drama Club. Under the dedicated leadership of teachers Breana Martinez and Joanna Walbrecht, students spent the past eight months rehearsing, learning, and working together to bring Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid Jr.’ to life on stage.

The highly anticipated production captivated audiences and showcased the remarkable talents, creativity and commitment of student performers. Family members, staff and community residents gathered to enjoy the magical performances, incredible renditions of classic songs, vibrant costumes and impressive stagecraft.

“This inaugural Drama Club production reflects the creativity, dedication, and courage of our students, as well as the unwavering commitment of our staff to providing enriching opportunities beyond the classroom,” said Valley Stream 24 Superintendent Dr. Unal Karakas. “Watching our students take the stage with such confidence and enthusiasm was truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of every student and staff member who contributed to making ‘The Little Mermaid Jr.’ a tremendous success and look forward to the continued growth of our performing arts programs.”

Throughout the eight-month journey, students developed their theatrical skills and learned valuable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, confidence and self-expression. From auditions and rehearsals to costume preparation and final performances, the production provided a meaningful opportunity for students to collaborate and grow both on and off the stage.

The success of “The Little Mermaid Jr.” marks an exciting beginning for the Valley Stream 24 Drama Club and demonstrates the district’s commitment to fostering artistic expression and creating opportunities for students to discover and develop their talents.
