Veteran Educator Gets Principal Promotion

LYNBROOK, NY — Matthew Sarosy has been promoted to Lynbrook High School principal.

The school's assistant principal takes over the new position on July 1.

Sarosy has logged 16 years in the district, starting as an eighth-grade U.S. history teacher at North Middle School in 2006. He stayed there for six years, the district said.

Sarosy spent the past decade in the high school serving as the number two.

"I’m excited and extremely grateful," Sarosy said. "I’ll only be the 10th principal of Lynbrook High School — for a building that’s been around for 100 years, there’s something unique and special about that.”

Sarosy is credited for helping the high school grow, most notably with new music, art rooms and classrooms.
