Week in Review

As the holiday weekend comes to an end and we prepare for another Monday, Patch looks at the stories in Malverne and West Hempstead from the past seven days.

It was a festive week of food, football and freehearted giving. In preparation for Thanksgiving, and worked hard to collect and distribute food to those who could not afford to prepare their own holiday feasts.

Students in both Malverne and West Hempstead enjoyed their short school week and spent some time holding Thanksgiving celebrations. Many children from Malverne shared in their lives and about all the reasons to be grateful.

In other business, the developers working on purchasing the Courtesy Hotel, which has been a source of much stress in the community, that they were one step closer to demolishing the seedy establishment. (This week, a man for an assault and attempted robbery that occurred within a few blocks of the hotel.) Then, Gov. Paterson to assist in the restoration of another key site in West Hempstead, Hall's Pond.

Our columnists also discussed some interesting local topics, including a Malverne celebrates the holidays, the to be thankful for West Hempstead and when the champions of the Malverne Challenge of the Bands reunite a decade later for a comeback performance.
