Nassau Crash Kills Child; Several Hospitalized: Police

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — A child was killed, and several others were hospitalized after a car struck three people early Monday in West Hempstead, people said.

Just before 2:30 a.m., a 2005 Nissan SUV was speeding near the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Westminister Road, when it slammed into a parked Toyota Corolla, police said.

The victim, a six-year-old girl from West Hempstead, died at a hospital, authorities announced.

Two people, who traveling in the Toyota, went to a hospital, along with at least two pedestrians, police said.
