The high school has been selected winner of the School of Excellence Award.
WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — West Hempstead High School has been recognized as one of the best schools in the state.
It was selected as a School of Excellence Award winner by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association for the 2021-2022 year.
West Hempstead High School is among 148 schools across the state to earn this honor.

To receive the School of Excellence Award, 75% of a school’s varsity teams must qualify and receive the Scholar-Athlete team award.
The award was created to unite varsity coaches in challenging their teams to achieve a statewide academic honor.
