The West Hempstead School District welcomed 10 new faculty members with a two-day orientation program on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Superintendent of Schools Patricia Sullivan-Kriss, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Daniel Rehman and Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations Emmanuel Glasu offered words of advice and encouraged the new cohort to make an impact in their students’ lives and heighten academic success.

During the program, participants were given an overview of district goals, the Annual Professional Performance Review process and digital technology and programs. They also participated in seminars to enhance their educational practices.

To further facilitate their start in the district, new employees were paired with seasoned educators. For more than 10 years, this mentor program has enabled new teachers to learn best practices, become familiarized with district procedures and feel supported during their first year at West Hempstead.

The program concluded with a bus tour of the district’s five buildings, where new faculty met with their respective principals and program directors.
