Where to Fill Up:This Week's Best Local Gas Prices

It's Monday, which means it's time to take a look at what gas stations in Malverne and West Hempstead will be charging you this week. See where we found the best deals.

The lowest you'll pay for regular gasoline at neighborhood pumps is $3.27 per gallon. Both the in Malverne across from and the in West Hempstead on Hempstead Avenue are both charging this rate for regular. The only difference is that the American only accepts cash, while the Getty will offer the same price to credit card customers too.

If neither of these stations are close to you, you may want to try these runner-ups, which are charging the next best rates for regular. Just across the Malverne border in Lynrbook the Gulf on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Lakeview has regular gas for only $3.29 per gallon. Two stations on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead - the Mobil on the corner of Westminster Road and the Gulf on the corner of Nassau Boulevard - are both asking for $3.29 per gallon for regular gasoline too. This price is for both credit and cash customers, but you'll have to fill up your own tank at these two spots.

At the across from  and the Mobile on Hempstead Turnpike and Nassau Boulevard, only cash customers will get the $3.29 per gallon rate for regular. Credit card users will pay a few cents more per gallon, which can add up.This also applies to the Vega station on Hempstead Avenue and the OK Petroleum pump on Westminster Road and Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead.

The Hess on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead stood out as having the highest posted price for regular gas - $3.31 per gallon - but since this rate applies for both cash and credit card buyers, filling up here using a credit card could be cheaper than getting hit with higher rates at a pump that raises its prices for pulling out your plastic. If you're paying with cash though, stick to the stations that advertise lower rates.

If you need plus or premium gas for your car, head down Ocean Avenue to either the Getty in Malverne or the Gulf just across the border in Lynbrook, which are both charging $3.39 per gallon for plus and  $3.49 for premium. (This is 2 to 10 cents less per gallon than what most are charging.) They accept cash and credit. OK Petroleum and in West Hempstead also have these rates posted, but credit card users will be expected to pay more.
